Aloha mai kākou, my name is Enoka Phillips. I am a Native Hawaiian feather artist and cultural practitioner dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of Hawaiian featherwork traditions. Rooted in both ancestral knowledge and contemporary practice, these classes provide an introduction to the techniques, cultural foundations, and creative process of lei hulu making.
In this five-week series, students will learn feather preparation, bundling techniques, design principles, and the construction of a lei hulu poepoe. Each student will create their own lei while gaining an understanding of the cultural context and care of the materials. All supplies are provided, and no prior experience is necessary.
